Cable tool drilling tools
Cable tool drilling tools
There are five main tools used
in cable tool drilling rig. Which are given below,
1: Drill line or cable.
2: Swivel Socket.
3: Drilling Jars.
4: Drill Stem.
5: Drill Bet.
1: Drill line or cable:
A wire rope hoisting line, rived on sheaves of the
crown block and traveling block (in effect a block and tackle).
Its primary purpose is to hoist or lower drill pipe
or casing from or into a well. Also, a wire rope used
to support the drilling tools.
2: Swivel socket:
A Swivel is a mechanical device used on a drilling rig
that hangs directly under the traveling block and
directly above the Kelly drive, that provides the ability for
the Kelly (and subsequently the drill string) to rotate while
allowing the traveling block to remain in a stationary rotational position
3: Drilling Jars:
A jar is a tool that sits on the drill string. If the drill-string
(BHA) gets stuck in the hole, the jar can help knock
it loose by generating quick, sharp hammer-like blows.
4: Drill Stem:
A Drill Stem, also known as a drill string is a string
or a column of a drill pipe present on a rig which is
used to transmit torque and drilling fluids to the drill
bit. ... It is a combination of the bottom hole assembly,
drill pipe and other tools that are used to make drill
bits turn at the bottom of the well-bore.
5: Drill Bit:
Drill Bit is a cutting tool . Which is used in petroleum industries
for cutting. A drilling bit is used in petroleum exploration
to drill a well-bore through various layers of rock formations
to access oil or natural gas resources. It is engineered
to penetrate the subsurface rock formations and to do
so quickly and for as long as possible.
